Imus is Back! Shall Dog the Bounty Hunter be next?

Don Imus is coming back next week. Today is a month since The New York Times and pretty much every other media outlet in this country have reported Dog the Bounty Hunter’s racist rant and his subsequent suspension by the A&E. Is it now a right time for the Dog to come back as well? Is our ignorant, celebrity worshiping society built on mindless entertainment or not? Perhaps our favorite racists' return(s) would be a right moment to read a book, like Rendall Kennedy’s Nigger or to see a movie like Lenny with Dustin Hoffman playing Lenny Bruce, a greatly controversial 60s comedian. Perhaps we should learn a little about the history of the N-word and see how people coped with it and with the society that has created it.

After all, if one "Oscar" winner, Halle Berry, can call another "Oscar" winner, Warren Beatty - her nigger - like she's done in a fascinating political satire, Beatty's Bullworth, maybe the rest of us also have a chance to face the demons the N-word conveys.
